Vineyard Vine inspired

My college freshman daughter is really into the Vineyard Vine and Lilly Pulitzer preppy look!  Luckily, I have found several Lilly dresses at Goodwill which has gotten her more inspired to shop Goodwill on her own!
I thought I would surprise her with a Vineyard Vine inspired wreath for her dorm room door.  After I saw the whale ribbon at Michael's last night, I was off and running around the store with that increased heartbeat that comes from being excited!  I was so excited that completely forgot to buy the modeling clay that I went to get for school!  I had to go back!

I got mail!

Faye told me that she had some cute new fabric with rulers on it.

I sent her some ruler printed twill tape in the mail.

This project bag found it's way to my mailbox!
I stuck a project in there right away!  The colors were perfect for patriotic pieces!

Faye was clever to use that twill tape to make that side loop.
I love being able to hang it!
Sharing ideas is awesome.
Thanks Faye for the great mail day!

Another BBD finish!

This is "Summer Sachet" out of Blackbird Design's book: A Stitcher's Journey.

A Blackbird Design finish!

These are "Tweet Hearts" from BBD that are included in their book: For My Friend.  These two stitched up fast!  I did both this weekend while at our mountain house.  Raining all weekend, but it made a great weekend for stitching and grading papers.

Adding green and orange

I got the idea for this center piece on Anne's blog "On Sutton Place". She nestled a bunny and some eggs into a grapevine wreath.  I had seen these carrots on Pinterst and whipped up a few.  I love the orange in my lime green kitchen!  My plates are lime green and the napkins are dark orange gingham.  This is the kitchen table, so I keep it simple.

I added this plant to my old bread box on the den coffee table.  Those bright green leaves really perked up the room!

I found this orangy-red candle holder at GW and added it to the mantle.
I like green and orange!

Sweet pin cushions!

My friend Clara (designer for The Stitching Parlor ) went to the Nashville Stitching Market in February and brought me back some wonderful surprises!  The chick and carrot pin cushions are both kits from Just Another Button Company.  They are easy and fun to put together!  Everything you need comes in the kit, even the sweet pins!  I did the carrot Wednesday night and the chick this afternoon while watching the new Footloose movie!  I loved the original movie back in the day....the modern version was just as good!!!!  It was nice to share that memory, and a new one with my 18 year old daughter this afternoon!

A finish fit for a leprechaun...

This was a fun stitch.  Country Cottage Needleworks has a "Cottage of the Month"series going this year.

I remember when my children were little and had leprechaun traps to make for school!  I bought this little Tom Clark figure back then to get trapped.....I told them if we could trap a leprechaun he would be frozen forever!  I couldn't resist putting him out with "March".  It looks like a cottage fit for a wee little leprechaun!  Maddie will be home for spring break this Friday and I am sure she will get a kick out of seeing him!

Can't wait to have my girl home for a week!

Jesse is out for spring break this week... do I get to see him? NO!  That Boy is lucky enough to be on a cruise this week with The Appalachian Steel Drum Band  as a class for college credit!  College is way better now than it was 25 years ago!  I'm very jealous!

Old rulers take on new light!

Everything seems to have numbers on it in the blogs!  Vintage rulers are popping up everywhere!  My collection of vintage rulers and carpenter rules have taken on a new light....literally!  Look where I am showcasing my collection...

The lamp is a Good Will salvage my mom picked up!

The shade is from Target.

I will be on the hunt for a few more rulers!

Spring Door

I put a couple of things together for a spring wreath last night.  Spruced up the front stoop and hung it on the door.  It was a beautiful Sunday!

Take Heart

We headed up to Blowing Rock, NC for the day yesterday.  Our family cottage is located there and we needed to check on things.  We met my son and daughter up there and spent the day galavanting through shops and antique malls.

I thought I would share one very cute little shop that is a favorite of mine.  "Take Heart" is a tiny little shop on Main Street that has sweet, old, and new vintage wares.  There is always something affordable that you can take home as a prize!

The Shop keeper is always so sweet!

Stop in to the little purple house if you are ever get a chance to visit Blowing Rock!

A picture of me

After seeing Marty show off her cute self at "A Stroll Through Life", I got to thinking that I had never shown anyone that follows my blog my real picture.  My blog header is a self portrait done in mixed media collage.  I love hats, hence the lampshade in" Lucy's Lampshade".  So, I played around with my iPhone camera on the drive up to BR this morning.  Yes! I was taking pictures of myself in the car while my husband was driving and laughing!   I used a free app called "camera plus" to do some editing and effects.  This is me!
Lucy May is a childhood name that my mama and Granny called me ...I use it now as a pen name to make it a little harder for my students to find me on the internet.  Shh!  Don't tell them!
